Can’t say I’m all that shaken up by it.

So I come across this today and a few thoughts spring to mind. This is a quote from article that sticks out:

“It appears that what brought him to this horrible event was his lack of being able to obtain a job, his frustration over that, and his stated hatred for the liberal movement,” Owen said.

So the right wingers love to talk about how the liberals are all godless, baby eating cowards that would welcome Osama bin Laden with open arms. Apparently they’re destroying America.

Yet I can’t help but notice that it’s the right wingers and their nutjob followers that produce the most horrific displays of human violence. Here’s a few off the top of my head:

1) Timothy McVeigh – homegrown terrorist and registered Rebublican

2) Abortion doctor killers and bombers – all right leaning

3) Martin Luther King Jr/Bobby Kennedy assassinations  - killed for being too liberal?

Why is it that all the asshole right wingers are immune the assassin’s bullets? And no Reagan doesn’t count. He made it out alive.

Congress considering increasing the gas tax 10 cents or maybe more?

Despite calls from the presidential campaign trail for a Memorial Day-to-Labor Day tax freeze, lawmakers quickly concluded — with a prod from the construction industry — that having $9 billion less to spend on highways could create a pre-election specter of thousands of lost jobs.

Now, lawmakers quietly are talking about raising fuel taxes by a dime from the current 18.4 cents a gallon on gasoline and 24.3 cents on diesel fuel.

The Onion, spot on spot on. Written in Jan ’01:

“You better believe we’re going to mix it up with somebody at some point during my administration,” said Bush, who plans a 250 percent boost in military spending. “Unlike my predecessor, I am fully committed to putting soldiers in battle situations. Otherwise, what is the point of even having a military?”
