So That’s Why She Quit
We all knew there had to be a reason.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — An independent investigator has found evidence that Gov. Sarah Palin may have violated ethics laws by accepting private donations to pay her legal debts.
The report obtained by The Associated Press says Palin is securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through the Alaska Fund Trust, set up by supporters.
Her twitter account says otherwise:

So she violated ethics laws by setting up a fund to pay for her fight against ethics complaints which also broke the existing ethics laws? That’s fucking funny. But golly gosh gee, she’s been so trustworthy up until now. Who do I believe?

US Army Major Says Obama Isn’t President
Therefore he shouldn’t have to deploy as ordered. What a whackjob:
U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, set to deploy to Afghanistan, says he shouldn’t have to go.
His reason?
Barack Obama was never eligible to be president because he wasn’t born in the United States.
Cook’s lawyer, Orly Taitz, who has also challenged the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency in other courts, filed a request last week in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order and status as a conscientious objector for her client.
In the 20-page document — filed July 8 with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia — the California-based Taitz asks the court to consider granting his client’s request based upon Cook’s belief that Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and is therefore ineligible to serve as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Slander against the President in a time of war? Say it ain’t so!! I can’t wait to hear what Limbaugh and Hannity have to say about this treasonous bastard!

Hell, let’s take a poll in the meantime -
GOP Gitmo Video
This is just sad.
There’s a certain Republican staff on Capitol Hill that deserves a pay raise. Last week, the Senate GOP released one of the best internet videos I’ve seen in a long time (and I follow this for a living) on a topic that deserves attention and all the marketing the GOP can muster: the potential release of Guantanamo Bay terrorists into the United States.
…………………..
It’s encouraging to see the GOP — often accused of poor communication with voters and being behind the times — turn out such a dynamic project, especially on a quick turnaround. Red or blue, you’ve got to admit the video is clever and effective. Let’s hope the GOP continues to take advantage of the communications talent clearly present in its own ranks. The White House doesn’t have a monopoly on effective political strategy, and this video is a prime example.
First off: this is not that great of a video. My 8 year old could do this with iMovie on my computer in a night.
Second: What’s the big deal? They’re getting moved from one detention facility to another one. It’s not like we’re opening the gate and pushing them out the door with a new suit and cab fare.
If this is the GOP’s idea of how they’re gonna “get” the Dems and retake the majority, they need to be prepared to sit on the sidelines for a very long time.
Maine Steps Into The 21st Century
The ink is barely dry on this one -
Maine’s governor signed a freshly passed bill Wednesday approving gay marriage, making it the fifth state to approve the practice and moving New England closer to allowing it throughout the region.
New Hampshire legislators were also poised to send a gay marriage bill to their governor, who hasn’t indicated whether he’ll sign it. If he does, Rhode Island would be the region’s sole holdout.
The Maine Senate voted 21-13, with one absent, for a bill that authorizes marriage between any two people rather than between one man and one woman, as state law currently allows. The House had passed the bill Tuesday.
Democratic Gov. John Baldacci, who hadn’t previously indicated how he would handle the bill, signed it shortly afterward. In the past, he said he opposed gay marriage but supported civil unions, which provide many benefits of marriage.
I for one am happy about this. We should be leading the world in tolerence and openess. This gets us one step closer to that. What do you think?
Obama To Get First Court Nomination Soon
We all know that Souter is planning on retiring. I’m sure we’ll hear and read countless articles about how liberal he was and what a disappointment it was since he was nominated by HW Bush.
Supreme Court Justice David Souter is planning to retire at the end of the current court term.
The vacancy will give President Obama his first chance to name a member of the high court and begin to shape its future direction.
So this begs the question and what I’m more interested in. Who should he appoint as his replacement? A woman? What are your thoughts?
Please feel free to comment, won’t cost you a cent.

Specter switches sides
WASHINGTON – Veteran Republican Sen. Arlen Specter disclosed plans Tuesday to switch parties, bringing Democrats closer to the 60-vote supermajority they need to push Barack Obama’s agenda through the Senate.
“This is a painful decision,” said Specter at a Tuesday afternoon news conference. “I know that I’m disappointing a lot of my friends and colleagues…the disappointment runs in both directions.”
Wow what a Debbie-downer. The GOP is a sinking ship anyway. Get out while you can! Women and Senators first!!
How is it that people who mess with America DON’T see this stuff?
I mean, OK maybe they don’t have high speed, but here is a hint:
Yup. Pretty much melted the TANK!
FGM-148 Javalin, Wikipedia Article
Summery?
Javelin is a fire-and-forget missile with lock-on before launch and automatic self-guidance. The system takes a top-attack flight profile against armored vehicles (attacking the top armor which is generally thinner) but can also take a direct-attack mode for use against buildings or fortifications. This missile also has the ability to engage helicopters in the direct attack mode.[1] The missile reaches a peak altitude of 150m in top attack mode and 50m in direct fire mode. The missile is equipped with an imaging infrared seeker. The tandem warhead is fitted with two shaped charges: a precursor warhead to detonate any explosive reactive armor and a primary warhead to penetrate base armor. The Javelin was used in the 2003 Invasion of Iraq, with devastating effects on the Iraqi version of T-72s and Type 69 tanks.
The main drawback of the system is its 49.5 lb (22.5 kg) total weight. Another drawback of the system is the reliance on a thermal view to acquire targets. The thermal views are not able to operate until the refrigeration component has cooled the system. The manufacturer estimates 30 seconds until this is complete.
UH? BOO HOO??? Its the friggin BFG from DOOM. Of COURSE it has a long recycle, and weighs 5 lbs. more than a high-schoolers backback. It’s a handheld I win, point and walkaway tank killer?
So if you were, say North Korea…. maybe you should call Comcast and read up on American weapons before being a little dink.
